Wait and See London – Notting Hill

For Wait and See / Uberta Zambeletti

The trendy location of Goldborne road, north of Portobello Road which is at a very short distance from the iconic Emo Goldfinger’s brutalist Trellick Tower was the perfect set to open the London’s concept store for Wait and See.

Flair Studio designed the concept store retaining some of the feature from the Milanese flagdhip in the trendy “Le 5 vie” area of Milan but also reinterpreted and fine tuned the language relating to the architectural context of Notting Hill and the desire to display a mix of luxury vintage ready to wear, shoes and accessories, with an accent on elements of fun like the metropolitan graffiti, the spinning wheel table for the accessories and a carpet reinterpreting victorian patterns in a subtle modern way.

The project foresaw an open space on the ground floor with a new client’s staircase to bring customers to the basement and a walkable skylight at the entrance to bring natural light from the shop window into the basement. The existing staircase at the back was turned into a service staircase to access the storage, the small store featured¬† alsotwo fitting rooms, a partially DDA toilet,a small office with pantry and a rear entrance for deliveries.

Unfortunately, also due to Brexit the project was stopped just after Flair Studio finalised a bespoke design, obtained planning permissions for a new staircase and for spanning retail over 2 floors of an existing terraced building and budgeted for the fit out works, including the joinery.
