Flair Studio is a RIBA Chartered architecture and interior design practice founded by Federico Schilling in 2019. Based in West London, we work across residential, retail, and hospitality — from sensitive heritage retrofits to complex commercial fit-outs — guided by a consistent belief: that the best spaces are found, not imposed.

We work closely with clients throughout every RIBA stage, bringing design intelligence, technical rigour, and genuine craft awareness to projects of all scales. Our network of specialist consultants, skilled makers, and trusted contractors means that what we design, we can actually build — to the standard it deserves.

Federico Schilling is an ARB-registered, RIBA Chartered architect who qualified in Milan in 2001. After working extensively in Hamburg and Milan — including leading retail development for Ermenegildo Zegna and Roberto Cavalli across flagship stores, hospitality, and residential projects — he moved to London in 2014, joining David Collins Studio where he led on significant hospitality and maritime projects, before founding Flair Studio in 2019.

Federico holds concurrent Lead Designer and Principal Designer roles across the practice’s projects, and mentors graduating architecture students at Central Saint Martins. His particular interests are lighting design, bespoke fabrication, and the intersection of heritage and contemporary intervention.

Our Credo – Good design begins with listening. Every project starts from the client’s story — their life, their habits, the way they move through a space — and that story shapes every decision, from the plan to the last detail of a joinery profile. We don’t impose a signature look. We find the right answer for each brief, and we make it well, working closely with specialist makers and artisans because the quality of execution is inseparable from the quality of the idea.

We also believe that the best buildings are usually already there. Retrofit and sensitive intervention are at the heart of our practice — not as a constraint, but as a discipline that consistently produces richer, more layered results than starting from scratch.

Architecture

We handle the full architectural scope — from initial feasibility and site appraisal through to planning, listed building consent, and technical delivery. We have active experience navigating listed buildings, conservation areas, London estates, and complex landlord approvals, and regularly act as Lead Designer on projects with multiple consultants in the team.

Interior Design

Every interior is developed from scratch around the client and the building — no signature look, no shortcuts. We produce fully coordinated drawing packages covering joinery, kitchens, bathrooms, and lighting, and work with an established network of specialist makers, artisans, and suppliers to bring the detail to life. Visualisation, material sourcing, and procurement are all handled in-house.

Construction & Delivery

We stay involved through construction as standard. We take on the Principal Designer role under CDM and the Building Safety Act, administer the contract, manage the tender process, and coordinate the site team. For international clients or those working remotely, we can act as sole point of contact from concept to completion.
