Flair Studio is delighted to share the opening of Friendly Grounds, a new café and community space on Old Brompton Road designed as a welcoming hub for families.

Set across two levels, the project brings together a bright, contemporary café on the ground floor and a playful children’s area in the basement. The design encourages interaction and comfort for both adults and children, creating a space where parents can relax while little ones explore safely and creatively.

A key move in the project was the opening of the existing staircase, transforming it from a dark transition zone into a visual and experiential connection between the two floors. The surrounding walls are used as a display for toys, books and colourful artworks, turning movement through the space into part of the storytelling.

Natural light, tactile materials and carefully chosen finishes give the café a warm and uplifting atmosphere. Soft colour contrasts and bespoke joinery details define the different zones while maintaining a cohesive identity.

Building on our experience from Raphael Nursery, this project continues Flair Studio’s commitment to creating spaces for children that are joyful, functional and full of personality — places where architecture, play and community come together seamlessly.
